Did I embarrass my wife?

My wife attends a weekly bookclub with the girls, in our town. This week they were reading a book called atonement the books are usually very respectful, as we live in a god fearing town and are a god fearing family and i dont want my wife or family being influenced. I didnt realise until the meeting at my house this week how racy this book is, as they discussed the shocking sex scenes and I even found it contained vile words. I was furious at my wife for not telling me about this and reprimended her right there and then for being so sneaky to read this and hide it from me, I also decided that i thought the book club should end for this week and made everyone leave. Yet my wife was giving me the silent treatment after this and only apoligised once, why cant she understand that lying is completely wrong in a marriage.
